Silent Tabs is a simple Chrome extension that helps users quickly detect and mute browser tabs that are playing unwanted audio.

Information We Collect

We collect absolutely no personal data.

The extension only temporarily accesses:

• Open tab information (title, whether audio is playing, muted status) — used only to show the list of noisy tabs and mute them.
• Your preference for the Auto Mute toggle and Focus Mode settings — stored locally on your device.

No data is sent to any server. No analytics. No tracking. No third-party services.

How We Use the Information

All tab and audio information is used only inside your browser to provide the mute features (including Focus Mode and keyboard shortcut). Nothing leaves your computer.

Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or transmit any data to third parties.

Permissions Used

• tabs & activeTab: To detect audio playback and control muting of tabs.
• storage: To remember your Auto Mute and Focus Mode preferences locally.

Your Rights

You can uninstall the extension at any time. All local settings will be deleted automatically.
